Pamela Borders Presents
100 Eagle Quilt To Troop 5
Mrs. Pamela Borders (far right) presented a quilt to Troop 5 at the November, 2006 Court Of Honor. This quilt honors all of Troop 5's Scouts that have attained the rank of Eagle.
In August, 2002 Mrs. Borders assisted in organizing a recognition ceremony for Troop 5 Eagles. At that time, she had just gotten interested in quilting as a hobby. As part of the Eagle recognition event, she began an endeavor that would last over the next four and one-half years. She set up a table at the recognition event and asked all Eagles in attendance to sign a "square" for the quilt. Those who were not in attendance were not left out. Their parents or friends were asked to send a "square" to them and have it signed and returned.
For the next several years, she made it a point to have each Troop 5 Eagle sign a "square" for the quilt at their Eagle ceremony. While it is frequently called the "100 Eagle Quilt", more than 120 Troop 5 Eagles have their name quilted into it.
Troop 5 has yet to find a permanent display location for the "100 Eagle Quilt" but it is often displayed during special events.
Mrs. Borders' son, James, received his Eagle in May, 2001.
